Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Startup Suomi ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree to these Terms, please don't use the Service.
About the Service
Startup Suomi is operated by a small team of three people. We provide a news aggregation platform focused on Finnish startup news, with social features that allow users to discuss and engage with curated articles.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
Account Registration
To access certain features, you need to create an account using either GitHub or Google OAuth. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information
- Maintain the security of your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- Be responsible for all activities under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
- Upload or distribute malware, viruses, or harmful code
- Scrape, data mine, or use automated tools without permission
- Spam or send unsolicited communications through the Service
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Content
Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you post on the Service (including comments and discussions). By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content in connection with operating the Service.
You represent that you have the right to post your content and that it doesn't violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.
Our Content
The Service and its original content (excluding user-generated content and aggregated news articles) are owned by Startup Suomi and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without permission.
Aggregated News Content
We aggregate and curate news articles from various sources. All rights to the original articles belong to their respective publishers. We provide links to original sources and do not claim ownership of aggregated content.
Content Moderation
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or that we deem inappropriate, without prior notice. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these Terms.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of any content
We're a small team doing our best, but we can't guarantee the Service will always work perfectly.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Startup Suomi and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether direct or indirect, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill arising out of:
- Your use or inability to use the Service
- Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers
- Any bugs, viruses, or harmful code transmitted through the Service
- Any content posted by users
Our total liability shall not exceed €100 or the amount you paid us (which is currently nothing), whichever is greater.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Startup Suomi and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any rights of another user or third party
Third-Party Services
The Service uses third-party authentication services (GitHub and Google OAuth) and analytics (Vercel Analytics). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services.
Changes to the Service
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.
You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us through our About page. We will process your deletion request within 30 days.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Finland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Finland.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Startup Suomi regarding the Service.
